Stephen qualified in 1973, joined Bates Wells & Braithwaite in 1991, and became Partner in 2000.
Stephen is an experienced court advocate who specialises in family law with a particular emphasis on children's issues. He is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and also of the British Agencies Adoption and Fostering.
A member of Resolution, Stephen is a trained Collaborative Lawyer who believes that with mutual respect and avoidance of acrimonious court proceedings, it is possible to achieve a 'good divorce'. Collaboration is effective in resolving separations between opposite and same sex partners, and is particularly effective in addressing the confusion and anxiety that children face when their parents separate. Stephen also acts for children, parents and family members in proceedings in the family courts in private and public law cases.
In his spare time, Stephen is a RYA dinghy instructor and a keen yachtsman, Stephen gets afloat whenever he can.
